چکیده

Among foliar diseases Leaf spot, yellow mosaic virus (YMV) and Urd bean leaf crinkle (ULCV) are destructive of mash (Vigna mungo) in Pakistan. Incorporation resistance against biotic stress plants is traditional strategy crop improvement through breeding. Effective breeding for stresses entails readily accessible resistant germplasm. 67 genotypes were evaluated multi disease was tested two consecutive years (2019 2020) at Barani Agricultural Research Institute, Chakwal. Experiment repeated with an idea to decrease the effect environment those material selected which performed same both years. Out 12 spot infection 19 found highly during In case ULCV did not appear 2020. However, showed first year experiment. Two namely 3CM-703 4CM-720 exhibited response all under study. Three viz. 4CM-716, 4CM-720, 5CM-708 demonstrated YMV as well spot. 4CM716, 4CM720, 5CM708, 7CM701, 7CM702, 7CM704, 7CM705, 7CM706 expressed simultaneously. The data generated useful

Molecular characterization of urdbean (Vigna mungo) germplasm related to resistance against urdbean leaf crinkle virus.

Urdbean (Vigna mungo) is an important pulse crop grown worldwide. Urdbean leaf crinkle virus (ULCV) is a pathogen of urdbean found in Pakistan that causes huge losses in yield. Forty urdbean varieties/lines were screened against the virus under field conditions during spring season 2009. None of the lines appeared to be highly resistant or resistant. On the basis of a 0-5 disease rating scale a...

Azadirachta indica leaf extract induces resistance in sesame against Alternaria leaf spot disease

Induced resistance is an important component of disease-resistance response of plants, and is accompanied by increased capability for activating defense responses upon pathogen ingress or elicitor treatment. Aqueous leaf extract of neem (Azadirachta indica Juss.) provided the control of Alternaria leaf spot pathogen (Alternaria sesami) of sesame (Sesamum indicum L: Syn. S. orientale L). Treatme...

RAPD assisted selection of black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) towards the development of multiple disease resistant germplasm

Black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper), is an extensively studied food crop which is affected by many abiotic and biotic factors, especially diseases. The yield potential of Black gram is shallow due to lack of genetic variability and biotic stress susceptibility. Core biotic stress factors include mung bean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV), urdbean leaf crinkle virus (UCLV), wilt (Fusarium oxysporum) an...

Effect of Urdbean Leaf Crinkle Virus Infection on Total Soluble Protein and Antioxidant Enzymes in Blackgram Plants

Urdbean leaf crinkle virus (ULCV) is a common, wide spread, destructive and economically important disease causing systemic infection in blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper), resulting in extreme crinkling, curling, puckering and rugosity of leaves, and yield reductions. Effect of viral infection was investigated on total soluble proteins and antioxidant enzymes activity in two genotypes viz., M...

Rhizobacteria-mediated resistance against the blackeye cowpea mosaic strain of bean common mosaic virus in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata).

BACKGROUND The present study investigated the effect of seven Bacillus-species plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) seed treatments on the induction of disease resistance in cowpea against mosaic disease caused by the blackeye cowpea mosaic strain of bean common mosaic virus (BCMV). RESULTS Initially, although all PGPR strains recorded significant enhancement of seed germination and se...
